Much like my art, I am always in process. Being an artist isn’t just about creating—it’s how I experience and make sense of the world. Though I once tried to see things through a more linear lens, I’ve learned that art is my most reliable guide.

Art-making is transformative, I like what art making in community does. It can break down barriers and soften group dynamics. I like how the simple act of using our hands to make something mitigates stress and burnout. I like how these processes can drop us into flow and let us access our truest self—a place we can return to replenish ourselves.

This is why I became an art therapist—to help others access that space of flow and renewal and rediscover the lost art of hanging out.

Let’s practice hanging out—with the art process as our focus. I call these deep hangs—unstructured, creative time together that invites curiosity, connection, and presence.
