A sign to always be making art

When I was a teenager, my boyfriend and I used to go and hang out at Pond Hill School. It was close by his house – so we'd walk over.

One summer day we decided to look in the school's dumpster. School had just been let out and the janitors were doing their thing: tossing perfectly good things into the dumpster. On this day, the dumpster was filled with reams of brand new paper.

I filled my pick-up with as many reams as I could manage. I was thrilled! What a haul!

I have used this paper for many things. Lately, I use it to make some of the prints I use in my collages.

Is it archival? Probably not.

But i think it's an archival thing to do – to haul reams of paper from a dumpster and keep it dry and flat for the past 23 years.
