When it snows, I like to see how many shades of white I can see because I am a color geek. When I was little I used to play with color chips, make art with them and put them in rainbow order. Nothing delighted me more than putting "Color in Order" -to this day it's really what I am best at.
How many different whites can you see in this picture?
I see at least 10. Not counting the shadows and highlights. (Answers at the bottom)
When I used to work at Sherwin Williams as a color consultant and my clients would ask for white, I would ask them what kind of white- warm or cool?
They would be stunned and usually say, "You know... Just white" Then I would whip out the White's Chart and they would begin to see what I was talking about. There are at least 100 different whites to choose from on the Sherwin Williams Whites chart.
Teaching people about color is one of my favorite things to do. I love to see the lightbulb go off when a client really starts to narrow things down and see what colors look good to them and only them.
It's an empowering moment when a client says, "I love that color! I really love it!"
And the best part is I won't stop helping you search for your perfect shade till I hear those magic words of commitment "I love it!"
I prefer warm whites, Alabaster SW7008 and Muslin SW6133. What's your favorite white?
